Challenge for Manufacturers: Digitization of Energy Labels
Awareness of environmental changes and technological progress has driven almost every country in the world to achieve environmental sustainability and technological modernization. European Union countries have turned to the digitalization of existing energy labels using a legal and technological framework – a unified standard for all.
EPREL Energy Label
From washing machines to air conditioners, all energy-labelled devices are now available in one place!
The EPREL database has two basic parts: public and closed.
- The public part of the database is accessible through internet browsers and provides product information, allowing both domestic and business buyers to check energy labels for products like televisions or tumble dryers.
- The closed part of the database is used by market surveillance bodies in each EU country to conduct regulatory audits of the transferred data.
Demand and Protocol
According to APPLiA, trade association that provides a single, consensual voice for the home appliance industry in Europe, more than 107,8 million of large and more than 81,8 million of small home appliances were sold in 2023. which demonstrates the growth and development of the industry, but also a necessity to maintain the awareness of its impact on the society. *
Any manufacturer who markets products in the EU is required to comply with “EU REGULATION 2017/1369 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND THE COUNCIL OF JULY 4, 2017, ON ESTABLISHING A FRAMEWORK FOR ENERGY LABELLING.” Since 2010, all products on shelves must have energy labels, and the EPREL system is a new way of data compliance based on collecting data in a central database that can then be used for multiple purposes. This system consolidates energy labels, technical documentation, and compliance data into one database.

One Solution for all your requirements
TIS EPREL Solution enables companies to comply with EPREL regulations through an automated, system-to-system data transfer that meets European standards. The cloud-based service uses the AS4 protocol for secure file transfers to the central EPREL data repository.
Two-Step Process
Step 1: Data Preparation
There are two mandatory types of data: the prescribed XML format, used by every device covered by EPREL, and PDF format. The preparation of the data depends on the manufacturer and how they utilize their resources.
Step 2: Data Transfer
After data preparation, EPREL prescribes the method of transfer – the AS4 protocol, which complies with the EC CEF AS4 electronic building blocks for system-to-system data transfer. TIS AS4 BB cloud service ensures that the manufacturer is notified within one minute whether the data has been received or processed.
